Preparation for Service

Copy of a Letter from our Archive

Bramley, Leeds

My dear Edith,

As promised here is our Congo address:

Mr W H Westcott

Inkongo Sankuru

Congo Free State

WEST CENTRAL AFRICA

The mails leave every three weeks and the postage is at present 2 1/2 d.

Seek to live near the Lord, dearie, and He will make it plain whether He wants you at home or abroad, & how long He wants you in either place. Be in no hurry, tell more to Him than you tell to your nearest friends: but meanwhile study His Word earnestly & pray hard.  Do not miss present opportunity of serving & honouring Him in the hope of something special by and bye. In keeping sheep David was being trained for taking care of God's people: and in following his occupation as a fisherman Peter was unconsciously prepared for the blessed fishing for men which fell to his lot in the Master's service. Don't think any lesson hard or any occupation mean which is appointed to you to learn or do, but do everything heartily as to the Lord, & you will be a missionary of the kind that is much needed today -

Ever with warmest love and prayerful interest

Wm. Hy. Westcott
